Looking for a good way to identify your bags on the conveyor at the airport? I've been creating a theme for my bags for a couple of years now and it has been expanding onto the bags that I bought when I was in Las Vegas.
My scheme? Dragons. Around the end of the conveyor comes a half dozen matching black travel bags and one with a red dragon soaring across the side. Yup, it's fairly easy for me to tell at a glance which one is mine.
It is a theme I began almost by accident a year ago when I was repairing a travel bag that had a tear in it. I used some iron on cotton material to repair the tear and realized that there was no reason why I could not personalize the bag even more. So, I began printing dragons on iron on transfer paper designed for use on dark material (my bags are black).
It turned out looking very nice. I added in another bag this year, a duffel that zippers down to an inch thick that acts as an emergency spare bag for souvenirs on return trips.
I will be adding more dragons on my new bags between now and my next trip, as well as personalized name plates printed out and ironed on the inside of the bags. And, new for this year, at least one bag (probably a carry on bag) will have old fashioned style luggage tags like they used to slap onto steamer trunks traveling overseas. I will create them on the computer based on places I have been to commemorate the things I have seen and done with my friends and family.
