Longer days!!!! Yippie!!!!

Okay, the days are officially getting longer.  YES!!!!!  This may not mean a lot to most of you, but to an Alaskan this is a major milepost in the winter.  It means there really will be an end to the long days of dark and cold.  Although it also means that the worst is about to hit.

I went to a Christmas party last night.  Was really nice, just a few friends getting together to trade presents and enjoy a good dinner together.  I made bread which went wonderfully with the roast, potatoes and carrots that the hostess cooked, and another guest brought a wonderful spice cake roll with whipped cream and fruit filling.  Was all very scrumptious.  I took a series of hand painted greeting cards for the gift exchange.  The gifts were numbered and we all drew numbers for them... the 6 and 2 ended up looking the same since the 6 had a bit of a tail and the 2 a looped base, and the numbers were drawn on tissue paper, so there was a bit of confuion about who got which one, and there was at least one person that drew their own gift (me lol) - so to fix the confusions we redrew numbers (written on plain paper) and double checked that no one had their own gift, and traded numbers where needed since a couple of the guests had picked the number of their own gifts.  In the end I got a lovely velet pouch with candles and packets of loose incense in it.

Was a fun evening that lasted till nearly midnight and a nice way to start off the holiday season.  Now I need to get back to working on my website.
