Housework - ugh!

Why is it that every time I clean the kitchen I turn around and have to clean it all over again? I spent literally hours working on the kitchen yesterday, washed three washer loads of dishes and washed the top of the stove (lifted top and washed under the burners even), cleaned the fridge -- and now... ::shaking head:: How do I get the thing to just STAY clean? Seems like housework is a never ending cycle that I am never going to catch up on - no wonder I never have time to work on my novel. Not only am I fried out mentally from stress, but I never have time to sit and focus on the thing without thinking "I should go clean that room---"
