it2i2 - “It thinks, therefore it is” - William Shatner DVD Club

I was looking around and found an interesting thing at a DVD Club. Have you heard of the independent film it2i2? This is an independently produced movie directed by Robert Llewellyn, you might know him from Red Dwarf.

it2i2, which Llewellyn wrote, is his first time in the director's chair. The movie (as of this writing) having a rating of 7 out of 10 at IMDB.com from 6 reviewers.

Shot on a budget of less than $10,000, it2i2 was filmed around the work commitments of the cast and crew, most often using the homes or offices of the actors for sets. The first copies of the film were released in March (2006) and have been, from what I can see, met with an in general good series of reviews from those that have seen it.

You need to keep in mind that this is not a pricey special effects Hollywood blockbuster, it is filmed with a Sony Z1 high definition camera and edited on iMacs. The quality is not going to be what you would expect from movies like The Matrix or Star Wars, but the movie is still getting favorable notice.

The plot is an intriguing one. What happens when the number of Internet connections between computers approaches the number of connections between neurons in the human brain? Developed as a mockumentary the film follows a BBC reporter's search for truth of artificial intelligence in the World Wide Web.

Join the William Shatner DVD Club to get this movie, or another movie such as Immortal or Virus, for free, then get 15 movies for only $4 each when you join the club.
