Okay, I don't mind helping my dad out, but I have to say that there are days when I just wish that the nurses would do their own jobs and not ask me to do things they should be doing when he's in a hospital.
Had dad in there today for tests and I'm not sure if it's just me and my tendency to let people take advantage of me or if it is how nurses treat all family caregivers or family members, but it sure seemed like I was doing a lot of things that the nurse should have been doing. Not like taking vitals or whatever, but just general stuff. Seems like whenever there is family around they become the nurse's lacky's.
Today I really could have used a break from such things though. One day I'm just going to wheel dad to the front desk and say "HHe here for his appointment." and run before the nurses can draft me into being a candy stripper.
