The addictive quality of daytime soap operas [sponsored post]

Okay, someone needs to stop me. I have been reading up at Soaps.com on daytime soap operas such as The Young and the Restless and it's starting to get out of hand. When I am pondering looking for the local listings to see when these things, which I have only ever had minor interest in, is on, it's a bad sign - right?

Don't get me wrong, daytime soap operas are okay, but I've always had this standoffish kind of "how many times can you retell the same thing?" attitude that matched nicely with my mom's "how long can you leave a single character teetering on the edge of death in the hospital?" attitude. But you know, I've began looking at the character information, message boards, the daily updates and the spoilers... them daily soap opera things really can get addictive.

The scariest part? A lot of the practice writing that I do could be considered to be mini soap operas so now I have started pondering making an online soap opera. Someone needs to whop me upside the head and tell me "NO!" lol
