Tapes and lasers and spider webbing

Mom got me a tape measure when she went to town yesterday. A Black & Decker 25' measure with Accu Mark laser line for help in shooting straight lines along the wall for placing chair rails, bookshelves, pictures, whatever. I discovered a unexpected use for it as I was playing with it... I found spider webs between the joists above my little basement refuge. I had cleared the things out when I came down here, but as I shot the laser line down the gap between the joists I realized there was a layer of very fine webs less than an inch down from the plywood that makes up the floor above me. =-o

It's very beautiful, the spiderwebs spreading out across the long line of the joists and lit by the red glow of the laser - but that's not going to keep me from going postal on the webs with a broom. They can have their webs on the other end of the basement, not directly over my head as I work on the computer, watch TV, or nap.
