Cut to fit heater filter for odd sized heaters

A while back me and mom had picked up a heater filter deal at Wal Mart that said it was for odd sized heating systems. Well, we have an odd sized heating system all right. Our heater was installed brand new by the guy that built our house and when we went to get a new filter, from the place where the guy that built the house had bought the heater, we were informed that the heating system was a discontinued model that the filter sizes were no longer made for.

We have to buy a size that is an inch too short for the heater and fill in the gap on the end with cardboard tubing from old wrapping paper rollers.

So, we found this heater filter deal in the sale bin at Wal Mart and decided to give it a try. So last night I took out the cardboard filler that me and dad had put in the heater years ago and measured and cut this new filter deal me and mom had got and slipped it into the heater. It fits good and seems to be working so far.

Hopefully we can find it in the heater supply part of Wal Mart, but I am not going to hold my breath on that since we had found this part in the discount bin. It's probably something they were discontinuing. Thankfully there is a little strip of it that I can use as filler material when we change the filter, and this one says that it is able to be washed out and reused - we'll see.
