This is Sprout, a little fairy infant sleeping on a flower wrapped up in a spiderweb receiving blanket. I painted him in just a little while (under a few hours) this afternoon for a new meme that I am going to be participating in as a way to get me back into painting. I unfortunately missed the topic, which had been "Sprout" because when I looked this morning it was sprout but when I went to post this it had changed to "crash", so I am working on a crash picture and will post it when I finish it.
I love to paint, finding it to be a relaxing pastime that lets me clear my mind and not worry about things that usually plague me when I am trying to work on other things.
Sprout was painted on Masonite using acrylic paints. It took under three hours start to finish, not including the time it took to gesso the Masonite.
The process was: Gesso and let it dry, sand smooth, gesso again and let dry again, sand smooth again, sketch the picture I wanted to paint on the board, seal the pencil sketch with hairspray (yes, hair spray), and finally start painting.
Paints used were:
Titanium White
Phthalo Green
Hookers Green
Light Green
Cadmium Red
Crimson
Phthalo Blue
Burnt Sienna
