Windy Alaska

There has been a pretty good wind blowing out there all day today. I'm glad to see it, since it means that spring it on the way. It should keep up at least all day today, maybe for a few days, and by the time it is gone a good percent of the snow will be gone as well.

It's a yearly thing, and I love seeing it each year. The one drawback? If it ain't nailed down it's gone, and sometimes it don't help to nail it down. A couple years ago this wind ripped the roof off my brother's house and it usually takes out several signs and roofs around town.

I remember one time, years ago, we were down in Washington at the ranch there working out in the yard and this kind of wind came up unexpectedly. It lifted a sheet of plywood one of my nieces was standing on. Levitated that little girl up a good 4' before me and mom caught her and got her off the makeshift flying carpet.

Still, I love the wind, like to stand out in it and feel it whipping around me and making my hair fly around, so this is one of my favorite times of the year.
