Chacon - drydocked in Chugiak

Went into Anchorage today, on the way back home we stopped in at this ship that has sat in drydock for years along the back roads on the old highway. I'm not sure what the history of this ship is, but I would love to find out.

The sign on the bow says "Chacon" and under that is another sign that says "1912" - I think the Chacon sign is actually supposed to be at the back of the ship or something as the port the ship is from, since a Google showed a Chacon in Alaska, so I am not sure if that is the old ship's name or just the port it came from. It's a very kewl ship and is BIG - I should have had my sister get a picture of me beside it so you could see how big. The supports along the sides are around 6' high I think. Didn't pay much attention to how tall they was.

I love this ship, it just silently charts a course through the Alaskan wilderness. Makes a writer's mind come up with all kinds of plots and ideas. lol
