Ever wondered what exactly a Botox injection was?

You hear about the celebrities that get Botox injections to help reduce fine lines and wrinkles in their faces, but what is something like that like? What does it do?

Well, first off, Botox is the trade name for the cosmetic use of botulinum toxin A - this is a toxin that blocks the nerve impulses, temporarily paralyzing the muscles that cause wrinkles. it was only approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for cosmetic use in April 2002. Botox is a neurotoxin produced by the bacterium clostridium botulinum (which also produces botulism - food poisoning).

Botulinum toxin A blocks the release of a neurotransmitter known as acetylcholine from being released, this neurotransmitter is responsible for triggering muscle contractions. Attached to nerve endings these toxins cause the muscles to stop contracting and relaxes them. This results in fewer wrinkles in areas of the face where botulinum toxin A has been injected. In the case of botulism, fatalities usually occur when the nerve endings in the chest are paralyzed and the lungs can not draw in breath.

There is a high demand for botox Los Angeles and other cities in California and Nevada where exposure to the Sun causes premature aging. Injections of Botox into the facial muscles results in the muscles being paralyzed and unable to contract to create wrinkles in the surface of the skin.

Day spas, such as Puremed Spa, specialize in Botox treatments and Botox injections along with other beauty treatments such as lip enhancements, laser hair removal, and photofacials.

If you are considering Botox treatments then I encourage you to please look into it carefully and examine some of the drawbacks and side effects that come with the treatment. Those actresses that you see showing up with gigantic puffy lips probably did not intend to have that happen to them.
