I've decided to share some facts about Alaska with you all. Little tidbits of trivia that may or may not be of interest.
First off, if you're in America, you don't have to get your money exchanged to come here. We use the same money the rest of America uses.
Up in Point Barrow you can see the sun in the sky for several months and it never drops beneath the horizon. Conversely in the winter it never rises above the horizon so you have night for several months.
We run smart pigs through the oil pipeline to clean it out and check for any problems. Yes, I'm serious, smart pigs. Don't believe me? Google "Alaska pipeline pig"
The mosquito is not really the state bird, that is the ptarmigan. The mosquitoes are just big enough to be the state bird. And speaking of the ptarmigan, the town of Chicken Alaska got that name because years ago when they were drawing up maps of that area no one could figure out how to spell ptarmigan. I'm not sure if that is the true story or not, but that's how I heard it. ;-) I'll let you Google it if you're that curious.
