I keep looking out the window expecting to see thunderheads forming to the north. So far I think every day since the 16th we have started out with a beautiful sunny day, then by evening we have had nasty thunderstorms move in. Last night the storms took out the power here. I got some footage on my little camera, about 6 minutes worth of it, so later I'll load that up and see what it turned out as. Should be at least a few segments in the video that are going to be fairly good I think.
I'll compile them into a little video if there are some good ones and put it up in my YouTube stuff as Alaskan Thunderstorms.
It's so odd. There did not used to be thunderstorms in Alaska. Years back there was never any thunderstorms or lightning, I know because I am deathly afraid of lightning so if there had been I would have noticed. I recall back maybe 15 years ago now I guess it was me and my dad were taking a window out of the back of the truck and lightning flashed. I went straight up in the air about three feet. No clue how he kept that window from breaking. That was first time I had ever seen lightning in this part of Alaska and it has got worse every year since. This last storm was the worst one I have ever seen this side of the Washington/Canada boarder.
