Golden Autumn Dawn

I truly do wish that this picture could do the scene justice. It was such a lovely sunrise this morning with the leaves all lit in edgings of golden sunlight and the morning sprinkled by dew.

I grabbed my camera and snapped this picture, but it just does not do justice to the way the dawn looked as it lifted slowly over the horizon through the yellow canopy of autumn.

As I write this post the wind blows the trees outside, sunlight golden upon the leaves as they dislodge and twirl slowly to the carpet of leaves on the ground below.

I suppose that as dreadful as it is to be approaching the cold of winter, this time of year does hold beauty. I find myself wanting to set pumpkins and a scarecrow under the tree out along the drive, just a small touch of decoration for the coming holidays.
