Metor making people sick in Peru?

My mom drew my attention to something interesting this morning. She asked me to look up the meteor that was making people sick, it had flickered across the bottom of the screen on the news in the news ticker and she wanted to know more about it.

Apparently on Saturday a meteor was seen falling though the sky and struck down in Puno, Peru. Luisa Macedo, a volcanologist for Peru's Geological, Mining and Metallurgical Institute, confirmed that the item, which left a 55 foot wide 16 foot deep crater, was a chondrite meteorite.

There are reports of police that had been collecting samples from the site were hospitalized and Jorge López Tejada, the Regional Health Director for Puno, Peru, has confirmed that there are very strong odors coming from crash site. According to LivingInPeru.com López Tejada has said that even with masks, the odor in the area of the crash causes throat irritation and nose itchiness.
