Ball Point Pen Debuted in 1945

Ah, the mighty ball point pen. I bet that you have one in your desk drawer, don't you? Did you know that the ball point pen made its debut on this day, October 29th, in 1945 at Gimbels department store in New York City? Yup, that's right, it did. The thing was a very wonderful innovation for writers, although my mom says they leaked really bad, and to own your very own ball point pen would set you back $12.50. That would be like paying roughly $130 for a pen today. I think I would have stuck to pencils myself.
