Alaska in Winter

I took this picture out in the yard the other night when it was snowing. Taken across the drive toward the trees on the far side of the driveway. I really like how the snow on the branches of the trees caught the light of the camera flash and made the trees stand out amidst the star field of the falling snow.

Alaska is a lovely place in the winter time, well... once you get past the cold and the icy roads and the cold and the ... well... at -60 F cold is about all you are thinking about.

Right now it's hovering in the range of 20 or 30 during the day and early evening - not sure what it is later on in the night or early mornings. If you decide to take a trip to Alaska in the winter time be sure that you know the average temperatures in the area where you will be going and be extra careful driving around out there. Oh, and watch out for moose - they love to come down from the high mountain areas in the winter and they will walk right out in front of a car driving down the road.
