Shopping for a digital video recorder

I want to get myself a good digital video camera that I can use for making videos of Alaska and my travels. Right now the only camera I have does limited video, so it is not really all that great for making a good video. I need something that will allow me to get a good video of my riding my ATV or that I can set up to record a moose walking through the yard and not have to worry about the video shutting off after two minutes of recording like it does with my little camera.
