The Iditarod sled dog race is officially in motion today, the dog teams started leaving Anchorage at 10:02 this morning (Alaskan time) and are on their way toward Nome. They will run to Eagle River, just outside Anchorage, where they will load back onto trucks and head North to Willow where they will restart the race based on the order and times in which they arrives in Eagle River.
Ninety six teams are running in the race this year, the largest number of entrants in the 36 year history of the Iditarod race.
I'll be doing a Citizen Journalist report on the race, starting today, from the Alaska Yard and Garden Website, which will be officially kickstarting the website.
