The All Alaska Sweepstakes Race is over, Mitch Seavey won, with Jeff King coming in in second place and Lance Mackey taking third.
I'm so upset right now that this is going to be short, but I will post a full post on it tomorrow. I have been reading about Lance Mackey and some guy that hit his team - seriously injuring his lead dog Zorro. :-/ I'm too growly about it right now, and it's late, so I will post tomorrow on it. To read more now check the Northern Light Media All Alaska Sweepstakes Blog - Helen has information on there and links to other sources such as the Fairbanks News-Miner newspaper and KTUU Channel 2 and another blogger covering the race.
Okay, maybe I won't write more tomorrow, but I will note anything that I find out new about the events. Right now I just want to send out heartfelt wishes that Zorro and the other dogs are all doing okay and say that my thoughts are with Lance Mackey.

AS A MOTHER OF TWO YOUNG MUSHERS, I AM MORE AFRAID OF SNOW MACHINES THAN MOOSE, WOLVES, OR THE COLD AND OVERFLOWS AND THIN ICE. RACE OFFICIALS AND AUTHORIZED PERSONNEL ARE THE ONLY ONES THAT SHOULD BE WITHIN 100 FEET OF RACE TRAILS. WE HAVE TO SHARE TRAILS WITH MACHINES FOR TRAINING, WHEN RACING IT IS NOT A WORRY WE SHOULD HAVE TO DEAL WITH. WE LOVE OUR DOGS VERY MUCH, THEY ARE OUR LIVES BUT AS USUAL NO ONE WILL GET EXCITED ABOUT THIS ISSUE UNTIL HUMAN LIFE IS LOST. I HOPE IT IS NOT ONE OF MY CHILDREN!
