Why carry cash too when traveling with credit cards

I learned a lesson while I was in Las Vegas last year for that business trip. Thankfully I had been carrying cash with me, but since I had never taken a cab before I had no idea that taxi cabs are not equipped to run credit cards. Oops. It was a good lesson in something that I have always known anyway. Never rely solely on a credit card. There might be cases where the computers are down or you might find yourself in a situation that credit cards are not accepted, so be sure that in addition to your credit card you always carry at least some emergency cash. And not in the same place as your credit card - that way of you loose one, you still have the other one with you.
