Denali National Park going green

Denali National Park has made a big step toward going green, a step the size of a school bus. They have a new hybrid bus in the park that they are testing out to be used as part of their buses for taking visitors in along the 92 mile road that leads into the heart of the 6-million acre park surrounding Mount McKinley.

The bus uses a hybrid system developed by Enova Systems, out of Torrance, California. Requiring up to 70% less fuel, the bus also results in less pollutants, something that any Alaskan can tell you is an important thing when it comes to protecting the beauty of Alaska. At the moment the park in Denali runs 110 diesel buses, with an average of anywhere between two and twelve being replaced every year. If the hybrid bus works out, then as buses are replaced, the park will be replacing the noisy diesel buses with the quieter, less polluting, hybrid bus.

One huge advantage would be in the quieter ride, which would allow for more enjoyment for the visitors and more chances to see animals in the park.
