Trains and Buses need to fill Airline gap

I was watching the news the other day and saw something on it about the airlines no longer charging service men for extra luggage they are flying with. Even so, there seems to be no end in sight for the fees that are being added on for the rest of us and everything else. Now is a great time, in my humble opinion, for bus lines and trains to start making a push toward offering more luxurious travel plans for travelers that are willing to take a little longer to get to their destination. I know I would rather ride on a train than on an airplane, so if I could find a train that ran from Alaska to the lower 48, (not likely) and it offered comfortable travel at a competitive price I would be taking a lot more trips to the business conventions I am unable to make it to this year. Shoot, if there was a train that went from Alaska to the lower 48 for a price comparable to the cost of an airline ticket I would take the trip just for the adventure of the train ride.
