Redoubt - active Alaskan volcano

I just hopped out to the Alaska Volcano Observatory page to check on the status of Mount Redoubt, our local active volcano that you might have seen a blurb about on the news. I caught just a few seconds of something on I think it was CNN the other night talking about Redoubt.

Mount Redoubt is one of the volcanoes in the Cook Inlet region of Alaska, placing it relatively close to Anchorage. The link above, the Redoubt activity page, has maps on the location of Redoubt and other volcanoes as well as links to the two webcams that the Alaska Volcano Observatory has aimed at Redoubt.

The volcano is currently at Color Code ORANGE : Alert Level WATCH - which means they are watching it close and expecting an eruption based on the activity level of the volcano, but they have no idea just when it might blow its top.

Roughly an hour ago the Alaska Volcano Observatory announced that the AVO web site is experiencing a high volume of traffic, and so is operating in a reduced capacity. So, if you try to visit, have a little patience and check back later if you fail to get through on the site.
