It is abit difficult for me to type Governor before her name, but she is still the Governor of the State and I kind of think that the title Governor holds after a person has left office in the same way as President holds after a president has left office. I'm not completely certain on it though.
What I am certain on is that 'Governor' Sarah Palin does not deserve the title. I had a rough night so ended up sleeping late today, and when I got up and turned on the TV the news was midway through a report that the Governor of Alaska had announced her resignation. Yup, she resigned as the Governor of the State of Alaska after a mere 2 and a half years of her promised 4 year commitment to the state.
I'm not exactly sure why she did it other than the news state that she said during the speech that 'she can do better outside the government'. Hmmm... I kind of think she could do better far outside of it if she is going to jump outta her commitment to the people of Alaska like that. First she gave campaign promises that she broke to get herself elected over the (in me and my mom's opinion) much more qualified and popular Governor Tony Knowles. Then as soon as she was elected she turned around and refused to keep her promise to reinstate a promise by the State of Alaska allow select elderly Alaskans that had been promised they would receive a check ($200 or less) from the State of Alaska each month for the rest of their lives.
That is not the only promise she broke, but it is, in my opinion, the most important one because it was promised to our greatest generation - those men and women who served in the era of WWII.
Seeing her talking on the news a moment ago she said something about basketball and the "full court press pecking away" before talking about how 'she is keeping her eye on the ball so that the team can win'. It sounds to me like that can be rephrased to: 'the press is picking on me too much, I can't do my job as Governor because of it, so I am resigning and handing it off to my Lt. Governor so I can duck out from under the stress of the press and focus on being elected to president in 2012.'
She would have been through with her commitment to the people of the State of Alaska at the end of next year, leaving her more than enough time to shine things up nicely for her desired presidency. To me her claim during her speech Palin that "I'm not wired to operate under the same old politics as usual" is not an excuse to quit her job. I kind of think there is something that she is not admitting to, possibly not even to her Lt. Governor and I will say right now that if the Fhan hits the Sit in Alaska and the Alaskan economy suddenly makes the State of California look rich I am not blaming the Lt. Governor, I am blaming Sarah Palin for having seen something that pointed toward it and potentially freaked.
I mean, come on, the news was saying something about she dosent want to become a distraction, that there are so many people going at her, so many investigations, that she can no longer get the job done. What in the heck does the woman think being president would be like? It would be constant people nitpicking at what she is up to, press wanting to follow her everywhere, a photographer that is taking pictures of her in the most private of moments because it is his job - not because he's paparazzi. It is traveling to all kinds of places and meeting world leaders and proving to them that the leader of the United States of America is a strong and committed person who will keep the promises that they make.
In my opinion. 'Governor' Sarah Palin proved this morning that when things get stressful she folds. And, for the record, you can not see Russia from anywhere in or near Wasilla, I live here, the most she might be able to see from her back door is a Russian family living in Alaska and gal... the last time I looked, President Ronald Regan put Russia in the position of our friends long long before you was even Mayor of Wasilla, much less the Governor of Alaska.
America can only hope that this is the last we hear of Sarah Palin in the government of this nation. If she thinks that she can do better outside the government, then I ask that she stay outside the government entirely. Please.
