Health Care Bill and "Death Panels"

Have you watched the town hall meetings on the news? The yelling and shouts that can get flung back and forth through them are more in the form of a room of 4 year olds than adults discussing proposed bills.

And the thing that gets me the most, the misinformation that is being brandished by some - including Alaska's former governor Sarah Palin. According to her, and others, the bill will force seniors to stand before "death panels". I doubt they read the bill, and if they did, then they need to look into what the term "end of life planning" means.

When someone visits their doctor to discuss an end of life plan they are discussing what their care will be in the last years of their life. It does NOT mean anyone is going to kill the seniors or let them die, it means that the seniors are no longer going to have to pay out of their own pocket to see their doctor and talk about things they are already talking about. Or at least that they should be talking to their doctor about.
