Time to take the car in and get the winter tires put onto it. I really don't want to have to do it, particularly not when it will cost $65 for the changeover on the tires, but it is a necessary evilness. I'm just glad that mom had brand new winter studs for the Caddie and I can get them switched over onto it.
Do I feel more confident driving in winter this year than I did last year? Not really, but I at lest have had a couple of months now where I have been able to drive around and get used to the car and road. Did not drive last winter because my mom passed away at the end of fall and by the time the siblings faded back into the background winter had set in fully and I was not about to drive the Caddie to the tire store on summer tires - not to mention the funds were not conducive to changing over the tires at that time. Just as I had thought I was ahead of things the last of the money mom had left me and dad was swallowed up by a need to pay a sibling's rent for them, then the heater went out and despite well meaning efforts to jurry rig it, it failed completely and I had to resort to *EXPENSIVE* electric heaters. I plan to get the heater fixed right this year, like it should have been last year. No way am I going another winter trying to keep the house warm without the right heating system in it.
So, I am off to spend a few hours at the tire center in town getting the car's tires switched over for winter. Will definitely need to take my little AlphaSmart with me so that I can get work done while I am waiting.
