I think it might be possible for the Table Mate. Standard TV trays are very hard for my dad to use, because they require him to sit out away from the chair - not easy to do when paralyzed on one side. This requres me to arrange pillows to support him in the chair as he sits forward to reach the table. And hospital style tables are very expensive to buy. That is why I think that the Table Mate is the ideal style of table for caregiving - it allows the caregiver to slide the tray in to the person so that the care recipient can relax in their favorite chair while eating , or any other project that requires a small table to work on, and the caregiver is not forced to find ways to make it easier to reach.
The compact folding design means that the Table Mate, unlike the old table my dad had for sitting in his chair that was solid welded construction, can be tucked out of the way when not in use. This lessens the aggravation of having a table that is in the way, but can not be used for anything because it must be ready for the care recipient to use.
Caregivers have enough trouble just keeping up with day to day requirements, needing to hunt down a table or trying to figure out how to get the care recipient positioned to use a standard TV try is just a hassle that adds to an already too stressful job. A table that can slide easily under the front of a chair or couch, and yet quickly folds flat, is a dream come true for the caregiver.
