Music boxes make timeless gifts, dating back centuries. There are accounts of automatic singing birds that date back to the ninth century, when Leo the Philosopher created two singing birds, complete with artificial trees to sit in, for Theophilus Ikonomachus. In the 16th century musical clocks were constructed and the music produced by a single pin striking a notched revolving disk. In 1796 a Swiss watchmaker, Antoine Favre, introduced the first true music box.
Since that time music boxes have been the perfect gift for mothers, daughters, sisters, and granddaughters of all ages and have evolved into collectables that span from delicate dancers made of the finest china to whimsical characters from feature length cartoons, and on to creations of masterful works of art.

I love this music boxes!
But the ones I really like, are the Francastel collection music boxes of Reuge.
The simply go far beyond the classic music box concept without losing sight of it.
See it for yourself!
