I'm very unhappy to report that Dee Dee Janrowe, who I had hoped to follow to victory in this, her 25th Iditarod race. Yesterday (March 5th) at 6 pm, Dee Dee Jonrowe, (Bib #27) decided to scratch out of the race at the Rainy Pass Checkpoint on Puntilla Lake in the Alaska Range.
Janrowe scratched due to injuries from a fall in which she broke her little finger and my have more damage to the hand. She was just a few miles short of the Rainy Pass Checkpoint when she fell.
I am saddened that she was injured and my best wishes go out to her for what I know had to have been a difficult decision to scratch from the race.
You'll get them next year Dee Dee.
