I started working on an older novel

I've decided that I need to set Heir aside for a few days, so I have started work on a novel I had wrote before Heir to Magic. I didn't like this novel, Shadowlord's Gambit, because it reads like an old D&D game being narrated. So now I am going back over it and trying to fix it using what I know now about writing vs what I knew then.

My main trouble is the novel is only available in printed format, and I have lost chapter one, but I am going to go through one scene at a time and revise it until I like how it reads, and type each scene into the computer here to get them organized and ready to go.
