Summer Weight Loss Camp Fitness and Health Scholarship at Camp La Jolla

May is National Military Appreciation Month, and in honor of that Camp La Jolla has announced that they will be awarding five Fitness and Health Scholarships for the surviving children of military men and women who have lost their lives as part of the global war on terror.

The Camp La Jolla Fitness and Health Scholarship is meant to honor the sacrifice of the military men and women who lost their lives as part of America’s war on terror, and to provide support to the surviving military children. The children will be given an opportunity to participate in a healthy and positive summer fitness program and weight loss camp. This is important because according to Nancy Lenhart, Founder and Executive Director of Camp La Jolla, “Many children use food as a coping mechanism when dealing with grief and loss... ...Through the participation in our fitness and weight loss program children will experience the long term benefits of building self esteem, lasting friendships, increased health and fitness benefits, and summer fun in San Diego.”

The camp is located in San Diego, CA and will be awarding five 2 week fitness and health scholarships for the summer of 2007. The scholarships for the summer weight loss camps are valued at $3,095 each and are open to surviving military children between the ages of 8-17. From now until May 15th the Camp La Jolla will be accepting emails, essays, letters or videos that describe why you, or a child you know, would benefit from a Camp La Jolla Fitness and Health Scholarship.

All entries must be received by May 15, 2007. Winners will be announced on Memorial Day, Monday, May 28, 2007. For more information visit: Camplajolla.com/militaryscholarship.
