June 4, 1942

The Battle of Midway began 65 years ago today. This was one of the most decisive U.S. victories against Japan during WWII. In the four day sea and air battle that followed the U.S. Pacific Fleet, although outnumbered, succeeded in destroying four Japanese aircraft carriers. The only U.S. ship lost was the Yorktown.
