I had heard of travel insurance before, but never really paid much attention to what it was. Looking a little more closely at just what travel insurance is, I must admit that it might be a good idea for someone that is traveling a lot for business or personal reasons.
For example Cover My Travels, a UK travel insurance company, offers its customers travel insurance that includes coverage for medical expenses, loss of personal belongings, passports and cash, travel delays or missed departures, as well as personal liability and legal costs.
They will cover travelers up to age 79 in single trip cases, the extended travel insurance for stays of up to 12 months will only cover up to age 60. The site offers an online quote for those wanting to look into travel insurance over 65 years of age for single trip insurance.
So, what exactly can travel insurance offer the traveler? Well, the Cover My Travels site offers a list of what their policy covers for travelers and I was surprised to find coverage on activities such as white water rafting, archery, inline skating, hiking, motorcycling, skiing, snowboarding and even heli-skiing!
If I am understanding the way traveler insurance works, it would allow the traveler to enjoy their vacation completely without worrying about what would happen if they got into an accident while skiing. They would have insurance that would cover the accident.
