Medical Bracelets and INR check

While I was in town the other day I went to the pharmacy to pick up my dad's medication refills, I had also meant to pick up one of those information tri-fold deals on one of those medical bracelet deals that could be used for identifying to doctors that my dad is taking a combination of coumadin and aspirin.

I did pick up some general information on coumadin from the Alaska Heart Institute when we went there to get his blood INR done. I’ll be putting that information up on my Family Caregiver Info website along with some information on what to keep in mind when traveling with someone that is taking coumadin.

Something I had not realized, but that me and the nurse determined after finding out my dad's INR count was really low. I had given him some Slim Fast on sort of a between meals snack (he certainly don't need to loose weight, he's at a very healthy weight now from what I understand). Anyway, the Slim Fast seems to have messed with his INR. I had no idea it could do that.
