The North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher is one of three aquariums that were established in 1976 as a way of promoting awareness and conservation of North Carolina's aquatic environments.
The three aquariums are located at Roanoke Island, Pine Knoll Shores, and Fort Fisher.
The aquarium at Fort Fisher features a variety of programs and special events to help visitors learn more abut the aquatic life in North Carolina's waters. Their website has an interactive calendar that you can use for planning a visit to the aquarium.
Designed for visitors to plan their trip to the aquariums, the website does not offer very much for the virtual traveler. It does, however, have a lot of useful information that those planning to visit the aquarium should check out, and even information that is useful for visiting other aquariums. Such as how to best photograph sea life - stand at a 45 degree angle to the window to reduce flash glare.
The other two aquariums share the website, so it is easy to locate information on the aquariums at Roanoke Island and Pine Knoll Shores from the Fort Fisher aquarium website.
