I'm thinking we would be better off with a place that sells those inexpensive ones, so that if the next pair don't work we're not out $190 again for a pair of el-cheap-o glasses. And that was the most inexpensive ones that I could find in that place where we got his last pair.
An article in the Chicago Tribune last year on the prices of eyeglasses pointed out that most people overpay for their glasses. In the article they stated that inexpensive eye glasses will at worst cause you headaches until the trouble with them is fixed, so if their information is right I don't see any problems with picking up a pair of glasses for under $20 over buying a pair that costs almost $200. Shoot, going that logic the article also mentioned $8 glasses from the online merchant Zenni Optical.
Zenni Optical is an online retailer of prescription eyeglasses with prices starting as low as $8 for a pair of prescription eyeglasses. A quick visit to their website reveals that even on the $8 glasses they have full UV protection and an anti-scratch coating. All with a full guarantee.
So, I figure that if I can get the prescription information for my dad's glasses, I should be able to get a pair from a site such as Zenni Optical inexpensively enough that we can afford to try again if they are not right. I might even look into what it would cost to get me an eye exam and get new glasses for me, I definitely need them before I take off driving since I have worn these same glasses for over 10 years now. ::wince::
