I was just sitting here thinking about what the next stop on my Ultimate Road Trip would be, and it got me to thinking about all of the myths I had heard over the years about traveling to Alaska.
There was one at one time about needing a passport to go to Alaska, and while that was not true at the time, it seems to me that I heard somewhere you need one after 9-11 if you are going to be driving to Alaska or to the lower 48. I'll need to look into that. You don't need a passport if you are going to be flying.
Another myth was that you needed different money in Alaska. Now while it is true you need Canadian currency when you are in Canada, us Alaskans spend the same good old American Dollar as the rest of the United States spends.
My personal favorite will always be that we have advanced technology for surviving in the cold that we refuse to share with with the rest of the world. I had someone ask me about that when me and my parents were in the lower 48 years ago and the guy never did believe that we did not have some kind of advanced technology.
