In a time when airlines are finding new and creative ways to charge their passengers, Jet Blue has leapt ahead of the rest. You might say that it has woken from its nap and discovered there's money tucked away in those pillows and blankets it had been letting passengers have for free.
Jet Blue will now charge passengers $7 for a pillow and blanket kit that they claim is a high-quality kit customized by CleanBrand.
I remember when I flew from Alaska to Washington and got a complimentary meal mid-flight and the mini-bottles of liquor were free. Yes, they had free liquor once upon a time, and I was not flying in first class either. By my next flight, however, they had realized they could charge $2 each for them little bottles. Which was fine with me, since I had learned my lesson already. Drinking 3 mini bottles of whiskey mixed into a soda was not a good idea when at airline altitudes, because while you might only be tipsy up there - you are stumbling drunk when you descend.
Now, if I wanted to get a soda on US Airways, just the soda would cost me $2, I don't even want to know what they would charge me for the whiskey to pour into it.
