It can be a cold world out there for travelers

I'm sitting here at the table watching the snow fall. Well, watching it make up its mind on rather or not it is going to snow might be a better description. The sky has the right tint of gray to it, and there are the occassional tufts of snow drifting to the ground, but it has not yet comitted itself to actually snowing.

It is days like these when I feel like it is a good idea to just pack a bag and go see warmer regions. I understand that it is summer time in places like Australia when we are freezing through the winder in the States. Makes going on a Walkaout sound like good idea, huh? (And if not, wait until you have been through -60 F weather, then it will sound good. lol)

Another place I have always wanted to go is to England, although I might just avoid spending very much time in London after seeing it made the unfriendliest cities for foreigners list over at the travel deals website Lowfares.com. They do point out that it is pretty much just the British mindset, and London is the only one they listed in their guide. The US has two cties on their unfriendly cities list: New York, NY and Los Angeles, CA. No surprise there on either one of those. lol

The list compiled by Lowfares.com is not the only list of unfriendly places I didcovered, there is a disciussion from back in August of 2007 over at the City-Data forums where they were talking (at leangth) about how unfriendly Washington DC is not only for visitors, but for those who live there as well.

Moscow made the listing, in third place according to an article in the Moscow Times, where they are very short and sweet in their declaration that City Hall suggests a plot to keep away the tourists. ::snicker::

I guess the best word of advice, no matter where you are going, is when you travel, be careful and make sure that you have a good map, because you might just get the cold sholder from the locals when asking for directions.
