40 years ago today mankind walked on the surface of the Moon. Since then there has been a lot of things happen, and a lot has been said about this historic event.
Things that stayed with me include a commercial about cheese. Showing the Moon it talked about how for so many years mankind thought the moon was made of cheese, then we walked on the moon and have never been back since. "Ah, the power of cheese!" Then there are all of the conspiracies about how the entire thing was done on some movie set. Whatever has been said of it since, throughout its being a part of popular culture and history, you can not deny that it was one of mankind's greatest achievements.
I salute the men and women who took mankind to the Moon. Not only those brave enough to make the journey, but all of those behind the scenes that worked toward that goal, their families, those involved in other space programs who pushed to beat the US to the Moon, and all those who dreamed as big as John F. Kennedy when he set the space program to that goal: To send a man to the Moon, and return him safely to the Earth.
Now... set the course for the second star to the left and let's see what's out there beyond the Moon!
