CNN stops using AP, offers its own news services to Newspapers

According to the Wall Street Journal, CNN has stopped using material from the Associated Press in their news coverage. The CNN website corroborates this report in an article on CNN Money CNN Cuts ties with AP.

The Wall Street Journal article it says that CNN is doing this in an effort to rely less on outside sources int heir coverage of events. The Wall Street Journal also reports that CNN intends to offer a lower cost alternative to the AP for newspapers.

I for one think it is excellent that newspapers, who are struggling so hard to survive in the technology age, are going to be given more options for news resources.
