A Cupful of Memories

I love my little collection of personalized mugs. Each one meaning something very special to me. From the pretty flowers shaped into a heart mug that makes me think of my mom, even though she was not who gave it to me, to the personalized coffee mug that a friend had made to celebrate getting her novels published. Or the mug I got when my friend and I spent a week in Las Vegas for a convention. Or the one that says "The Truth Is Out There" that my dad kept pens in on his computer desk.

There is no question that a personalized coffee mug tells a story and hold onto memories of events and people that we care about. Each time we sit down to have a cup of coffee or tea from one we are reminded of the warmth of a friendship or the warm love of a family member. Each time we reach for a pen from one we are reminded of the man things that were said with the person it was from.

When it comes to afternoon tea on the porch, my preference is a nice delicate teacup with matching saucer, but for working in the garden or at the computer, I'll always reach first for a cup that is as full of memories as it is coffee.
