Build a treadmill from scratch?

Okay, that was a waste of research time. I went all over Google and haven't yet found anywhere that anyone has made a treadmill from scratch. What the hell happened to the good old Backwoods Home Magazine survival of the most creative mentality? Don't people do things for themselves anymore? I mean, hell, yeah it's nice to go out and pick up a $400 treadmill, but are there no handyman good old boys out there any more that know how to whip one of these suckers up in their garage with a few sections of re-bar, some old copper waterpipe and a 2x4 frame covered in thick trucker's tarp? Must I do everything myself? lol Okay, off to see if that old pile of copper pipe is still behind the shed. I know I won't actually MAKE a treadmill from scratch, but it gives me something to do while I wait to see if my nephew remembers I asked him to help me iwth the dog pens after lunch.
