Camping and GPS rentals for group outings

I'm very interested in getting a chance to do some geo-caching and gold panning this summer with my ATV. Alaska is a beautiful place to get out and about doing things whether as part of a group of friends or family activities or going out as part of a church group or other group. The only problem with enjoying the great outdoors in Alaska is that things change fast. Camping gear that may have been just what you needed last month, might be wrong for the needs of the next month. Because of that it makes sense to rent gear such as tents and sleeping bags rather than buying them.

There is a place in Arizona that provides camping and GPS rentals shipped via UPS shipping, a great idea for anyone that is going out on a camping trip as part of a group where they will only need the gear for that one weekend and then not need it again. A good tent can run in the range of hundreds of dollars to buy, so to rent one for $20 to $50 for a weekend of camping makes much more sense. Lowgear.com has rentals for 3 days, 7 days or 14 days and a lot of their gear can also be outright purchased if you prefer.

A great way to build teamwork within a group, such as for office workers or a church group, would be to arrange a weekend hiking trip to a remote Geo-cache location, renting equipment (even the GPS unit) and making finding the geo-cache a group effort. Or maybe hide your own geo-cache for other groups to find?
