The weight for these weights is all on one end of them (the base, of course), so they might feel a little unfamiliar when you first start using them, but I determined that I like the way they are a bit more weighted to one end, it makes them more comfortable for me when I swing my arms. And I love the straps that assure they stay in place even if I briefly let go of the hand grip part of the weight for some reason. That allows you to fiddle with a MP3 player or jacket zipper without dropping the weights.
One of the best discoveries I made for these weights was the fact that my Honda ATV key fit perfectly into the storage space, kind of like a little cap for it. If I decided to take my ATV up to a park and jog the trails in the park I could keep my key with me safe in the Hot Walkers weights.

These weights came with a pepper spray canister already installed in one of the wights and a spare canister of pepper spray that is dated to be good until December 2011. When walking the cap from the weight snaps onto the base of the pepper spray Hot Walker for easy storage and to keep it handy for putting back over the pepper spray end when you are finished walking. It is easy, after you look the weights over a little, to see which is which at a glance. The storage weight has the same size ends on each end, where the pepper spray weight is just a little larger on one end than on the other.
All in all these are very nice looking weights that are comfortable to hold, even if you have very small hands like I do, and offer a level of security when out walking alone. In my opinion, these are the perfect answer for any woman that is looking for practical and multi-function self defense products for personal safety. And if the pepper spray does not do the trick, there is still a nice heavy weight in your hands for defending yourself.
The pepper spray will not cause permanent damage, but it will stun an attacker long enough for you to potentially escape unharmed and is listed on the package as being effective up to 15 feet away. I have not tested out the pepper spray aspect of these, but the packaging says it has multi-shot capacity, so if you miss or there are more than one attacker you do have at least one or two more tries to defend yourself.
You can find out more or purchase these weights, and other self defense products, at AAA-SafetyFirst.com. My personal favorite after these weights? Check out the Stunning Ring, another great piece that is functional as well as provides safety.
And be sure that you sign up for the safety tips (small pop-up on main page of the site) if you want to find out more about how to use self defense products to protect yourself and even special sales that will be offered only to tips mailing list members. Missed the pop-up? Don't worry, there is a space for signing up for it halfway down the main page.
