Guerrilla Marketing While Traveling

I was sitting here twirling a pen between my fingers (great exercise for cramping fingers) and thinking about the writing on the side of it and came up with an idea. I'm a writer, so I love collecting pens. Good writing pens are something everyone hates to lose, but loves to find. So, the idea that hit me was a guerrilla marketing idea.

Say you have written a novel (I'm a writer, what scenario did you expect?) and you have got some promotional pens with your novel's title and your name and the URL of your website on them. Now, what do you do to get a few of these spread around? I got to thinking about the number of pens that I loaded into my bag when I went to Las Vegas, pens that I needed to make sure I had pens to write with down there, but did not have to bring home with me.

You can leave pens in the pen mugs at service station mini-marts or other places where there are cups of a variety of pens. Anywhere that someone would need to sign something and there is an assortment of promotional pens you can ask if they would like a few pens and chances are they will say sure thing. This allows you to leave advertising for your book or business during your travels and know that it is not just going to be tossed out when someone clears a message board of business cards.
