In a much nicer view of the Iditarod, Lance Mackey and Jeff King are racing their way toward Nome. They are out of Koyuk and headed for Elim at race mile 797.7. The two seem to be going at it in a head to head race now, loping along and no doubt tormenting one another with who will be the first one under the burled arch.
As I was checking racer positions I noticed that Lance Mackey's younger brother, Jason Mackey, has passed the Kaltag checkpoint with 14 dogs. That puts him somewhere past the 598.5 mile mark on the trail.
Something I was thinking as I was browsing the mushers. I hope that whenever the first musher crosses the line, they collect his GPS deal and cart it back down to a checkpoint to hand off to the person in the tail end of the race, be neat to watch the winner of the Red Lantern making their way in this year.
