As much as I love this state, I have come to the conclusion that Alaska is definitely too far off the beaten path. And it annoys the blazes out of me. I came to this conclusion after having tried to call a few of those toll free numbers for the scooter places that you get inundated with on the television. I want to get my dad one of those powered wheel chairs, but since we can't afford to outright buy one we need to find someone that can work with his insurance. Well, it seems that none of the places I have tried so far works with Medicare in Alaska. I'm not sure why, but it is very very annoying to say the least, especially when they keep showing commercials that spout how much he could get out and travel and life be like it used to be if only he owned *THEIR* chair.
